The Iris Garden is an authentic cradle of this plant species, known for its delicate and enveloping fragrance that makes it unique.

The iris flower is the symbol of the city: the red flower on the Florentine coat of arms is in fact an iris, and not a lily! The garden was opened in 1957 and since then, hundreds of different species from all over the world have been planted, some of which very rare and ancient. Currently, this wonderful place houses over 1,500 varieties of iris, which come in a variety of colors and shapes and bloom in late April and early May. The garden also features a small pond and a gazebo, offering some panoramic views of Florence.
